RN Ambulatory – Ob/Gyn Infusion

The Ob/Gyn Infusion team specializes in supporting women undergoing treatment for gynecologic and obstetric cancers. As an RN, your role focuses on administering chemotherapy, immunotherapy and other essential services, while offering comprehensive clinical support, patient education and emotional encouragement tailored to the unique needs of these women facing the challenges of reproductive diagnoses. You will collaborate closely with Oncologists, Ob/Gyn specialists and a multidisciplinary caregiver family to ensure high-quality, compassionate and often life-changing care. A caregiver in this position works days from 8:00AM – 4:00PM, with NO weekend, on-call or holiday requirements.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Provide professional nursing care in an ambulatory setting.  
  • Assess health status, complete nursing assessments, perform telephone triage and establish care plans.  
  • Administer medications and treatments.  
  • Initiate CPR and other emergency measures.  
  • Notify the physician and/or Licensed Independent Provider (LIP) of abnormal findings. 
  • Assist with specialized diagnostic procedures, therapeutic procedures and specialized patient care equipment. 
  • Develop, evaluate, adapt and document health education and provide it to patients and families.  
  • Cover other nursing roles within the department.  
  • Travel within the region to support physician clinics and surgical procedures, as needed. 
  • Administer cancer treatments via IV infusion, ensuring safety and adherence to protocols.
  • Monitor patients for side effects and respond to adverse reactions.
  • Educate patients and families on treatment plans, medications and symptom management.
  • Coordinate care with Ob/Gyn Oncology providers and support services.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing  
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)  
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) 
  • One year of recent experience as an RN OR LPN, Medical Assistant and/or other unlicensed clinical healthcare experience if applicant is a current Cleveland Clinic caregiver in an ambulatory setting transferring into an RN role but remaining in the same current ambulatory Cleveland Clinic setting OR a current Cleveland Clinic caregiver in a clinical role within the same specialty area transferring into an ambulatory area  
  • Cancer-specific certification or demonstrated ongoing qualifying education

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

  • Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range.
  • May requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
  • Light Work – Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects.
  • Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible.
