Pharmacy Technician – Inpatient

6:00am-2:30pm Garfield Heights, OH US May 14, 2025

*This position is eligible for a sign-on bonus of up to $2,500*

As a Pharmacy Technician, you play an essential role in keeping patients safe and comfortable throughout their experience. A caregiver in this position works days from 6:00AM – 2:30PM, with two yearly holiday and every third weekend requirements.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Prepare medications through selecting, labeling, repacking, non-sterile compounding and sterile compounding.  
  • Deliver medications to the appropriate storage locations in an accurate and timely manner. 
  • Maintain accurate and appropriate inventories of medications and supplies and complete inventory audits, such as cycle counts and nursing unit inspections.  
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area by complying with procedures, rules and regulations. 
  • Document regulatory requirements, including temperature logs, scheduled activities and training.  
  • Use information systems, technology and automation to complete assigned tasks.  
  • Assist with the training of pharmacy caregivers and students. 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:   

  • High School Diploma or GED   
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcare Association (NHA) upon hire 
  • Active registration through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP) as either a Certified Pharmacy Technician, Registered Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Trainee upon hire 
  • Caregivers with active Pharmacy Technician Trainee or Registered Pharmacy Technician registrations are required to update their registration to a Certified Pharmacy Technician registration with the OBOP within six months 
  • Understanding of algebraic calculations for the preparation of extemporaneous compounds   

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:    

  • Completion of a formal Pharmacy Technician Training Program
  • Six month of hospital experience

Physical Requirements:

  • Working while standing, walking, reaching, stretching and sitting for prolonged periods
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer operations, dispensing, and compounding
