Exercise Physiologist

As an Exercise Physiologist, you will support our Cardiology Department by providing exercise opportunities. You will develop exercise prescriptions and oversee exercise progression in patients with cardiovascular disease in a rehabilitative setting. Caregivers on this team talk about how much they love their job and would love to welcome a team player that is eager to learn, grow and take care of patients to the team. We are looking for someone who can float to other departments, such as pulmonary rehab.

A caregiver in this position works days, 6:30am—3:00pm.  

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

• Provide patient testing before and after rehabilitation, including strength, body composition, flexibility, balance and endurance.  

• Provide exercise prescriptions for patients utilizing test data, patient status and current medication regimen.  

• Update exercise prescriptions according to patient response.  

• Implement concepts of cardiac secondary prevention.  

• Recognize contraindications to exercise and abnormal patient responses to exercise.  

• Appropriately respond to all situations including exercise cessation and referral to medical professionals.  

• Provide exercise information to patients, peers and the community through public speaking and education classes.  

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

• Bachelor’s degree in exercise-related field 

• Certified Basic Life Support (BLS) healthcare provider  

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

• Master’s degree in exercise – related field

• One to two years of experience with cardiac stress testing
