Chaplains provide spiritual care to patients, families and caregivers, fostering spiritual resources for healing. Spiritual care is a component of healing, so meeting others where they are and helping them during troubled waters is a vital part of a Chaplain’s role.
A caregiver in this position works a shift during 8:00am – 4:30pm.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Provide education and consultation for physicians, nurses, and other caregivers.

Provide spiritual care and counseling for patients, families and caregivers of all faith groups, ages and conditions.

Foster spiritual resources for healing.

Provide crisis and ongoing care.

Work regular and on-call hours.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Master’s degree of divinity or equivalent
-
Satisfactory completion of a minimum of four units of Clinical Pastoral Education
-
Certification as a board-certified Chaplain (www.bcci.professionalchaplains.org) or eligibility within two years or certification as an ACPE Supervisor of Clinical Pastoral Education

1 year of ministry experience required

Physical Requirements:

Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.

Must be able to climb stairs, pull, push and facilitate movement of the patient.

Must have normal or correctable vision and hearing to be able to hear normal conversations.
