The Pharmacy Manager – Inpatient oversees operational pharmacy services at South Pointe Hospital, supporting a collaborative community hospital environment with service lines including Internal Medicine, Infectious Disease, ICU, and Emergency Medicine. This leadership role manages approximately 20–25 direct reports, including pharmacy technicians, operational pharmacists, and PRN staff, while partnering closely with the Director of Pharmacy and broader clinical leadership team. Responsibilities include oversight of inpatient pharmacy operations, workflow optimization, sterile compounding compliance, medication safety initiatives, staffing coordination, and regulatory readiness. The manager also supports performance management, caregiver development, and continuous improvement efforts to enhance operational efficiency and patient care outcomes. This role plays a key part in maintaining safe, compliant, and patient-centered pharmacy operations across the hospital.
A caregiver in this position will work Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm with no weekends, holidays or floating expectations.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Identify and meet patient needs utilizing continuous process improvement techniques.
- Identify and propose practical solutions to technical, professional, personnel or procedural problems affecting daily workflow.
- Ensure the department is adequately staffed with properly trained personnel.
- Establish work assignments and schedules.
- Participate in the development of operational and clinical program activities.
- Promote and develop the clinical activities of pharmacy caregivers through counseling, training and teaching.
- Train and instruct caregivers as to their duties.
- Coordinate orientation and training of new caregivers in job functions and responsibilities.
- Monitor financials and other pertinent statistics.
- Assist with evaluations of financial performance.
- Maintain records of narcotics, poisons, and habit-forming drugs received in accordance with state and federal laws.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Current state licensure as a Registered Pharmacist (RPh) or eligible within 90 days of hire
- Completion of a health-system Pharmacy Administration or Leadership (HSPAL) PGY2 Residency OR four years of relevant pharmacy experience, including one year of leadership experience
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Pharmacy Degree with current state licensure
- MS, MBS, PharmD and/or residency
- Prior inpatient pharmacy leadership experience
- Experience managing inpatient pharmacy operations and sterile compounding environments preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Physical demands include periods of standing and walking.
- Dexterity sufficient to perform computer functions and communication via telephone.
- May be required to lift and transport up to ten pounds.
- Requires normal or corrected vision.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Pay Range
Minimum Annual Salary: $118,960.00
Maximum Annual Salary: $190,360.00
