Shared Laboratory Resource Assistant I – Cage Wash Technician

As a Research Assistant, you will help facilitate this vision by performing a variety of support activities, functioning as a key support to operations and research customers. This position is an excellent entry into Research within an exciting, ever-evolving healthcare setting. 

A caregiver in this position works days from 6:00AM – 2:30PM. 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

• Perform various procedures or SOPs to carefully operate and conduct maintenance of core equipment.  
• Notify senior personnel or a supervisor of equipment malfunction or other issues that need immediate attention.  
• Perform quality assurance on all assigned activities per procedures or SOPs.
• Assist with collecting, receiving, processing, transporting, or storing supplies from various labs. 
• Receive/answer and process departmental communications through iLab ordering system, email, phone and/or voicemail or other method.  
• Perform appropriate cleaning procedures for specific areas and maintain adequate stock of supplies as needed. 
• Complete three months of on-the-job training to learn department laboratory procedures, instrumentation and Cleveland Clinic policies.  

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

• High School Diploma/GED 
• Comfortability with animals

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to transport equipment and/or animals weighing up to 75  pounds
• Ability to understand and follow detailed scientific or medical instructions given by investigators and/or veterinarians
• Ability to work in an environment of unpleasant odors and sights
• Subject to animal bites and scratches
• May be required to work with biological, chemical and radiation hazards after proper training.
