The Director of Continuous Improvement leads/manages a dedicated group of Continuous Improvement (CI) improvement specialist in a highly matrixed organization while ensuring inclusivity to execute projects, and programs, or apply lean and other improvement methods within the assigned portfolio to deliver results. In this role you will manage relationships at multiple levels within the assigned portfolio and build a high- performing team through performance management, talent management, and succession planning including skills/competencies development. 

 

A caregiver in this position works 8:00AM—5:00PM.  Candidates who are considered need to reside near on of our FL Hospitals (Weston, Indian River or Martin Health)

 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:   

  • Apply the Cleveland Clinic Improvement Model (CCIM) building and advancing capabilities of caregivers. Promotes CI culture enterprise-wide using the CCIM. 

  • Lead and manage the assigned portfolio to deliver results. 

  • Teach, coach, and mentor executive leaders in the assigned area on continuous improvement best practices. 

  • Standardize and govern the assigned portfolio, tools, and templates to ensure team's compliance as well as to maintain its integrity. 

  • Encourage and enable research of best practices within and outside the organization. While applying learnings to the development of CI tools and standards 

  • Lead, train, and advise on the collection and analysis of process data to initiate, develop, and recommend practices and procedures that focus on enhanced safety, increased productivity, and reduced cost. 

  • Develop and manage relationships with peer group within Clinical Transformation and external to Clinical Transformation (e.g., Markets, Hospitals, Institutes, Shared Services, etc.) from identification through execution of portfolio. 

  • Establish goals, budgets, and strategies for growing the ROI of CI activities. 

  • Assist team in navigating organizational politics/climate. 

  • Engage, develop, and manage team members leveraging resource management tools including performance management, talent management, and succession plan including skills and competencies development. 

  • Influence and advise indirect resources aligned to other functional support Shared Services groups, Institutes, and Hospitals. 

  • Partner and establish credibility to represent Cleveland Clinic and CI during external outreach or industry interface. 

  • Other duties as assigned. 

 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:   

  • Bachelor's Degree 

  • Master's Degree (in lieu of Master’s Degree, 9 years of process improvement experience or a Lean Certification may suffice) 

  • 10 years of business or healthcare experience with at least 7 years of experience leading process improvement, transformation, and project management 

  • 6 or more years demonstrating the ability to manage a large team of high functioning individual contributors 

  • Navigate and operate in the organization at all levels to achieve results using industry knowledge 

  • Senior-level experience building and managing a team to advance and support continuous improvement throughout the enterprise 

  • Expert level of statistical analysis, CI (Continuous Improvement) tools (e.g., VSM, VM, 5S, Process Map, Pareto, A3, etc.) and change management techniques 

  • Portfolio management knowledge to deliver results while balancing the capacity of the team vs the demand of the customers 

 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:   

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or Lean Certification 

  • Experience in transformation/change agent role within an organization engaged in a Lean transformation

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.

  • Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods.

  • Ability to work with physical records or operate a computer or other office equipment.

  • In some locations, ability to travel throughout the hospital system.

  • In some locations ability to move up to 25 lbs.

  • Follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $53.90

Maximum hourly: $82.19
