Physical Therapist Assistant – Outpatient

As a Physical Therapy Assistant, you support this mission by applying a wide variety of therapeutic techniques for the rehabilitation of functional limitations, impairments and disorders. This role is critical in ensuring patients feel at their best, empowering them to take control of their treatment. A caregiver in this position works day/evening rotation, 8:30am—5:00pm or 10:30am—7:00pm. 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

• Implement patient treatment following evaluations by a Physical Therapist with a thorough understanding of the procedures and goals. 

• Discuss possible changes in the treatment approach with the supervising therapist and assist in the preparation of a new program. 

• Assume responsibility for the care, safety and well-being of patients during assigned acts and observe all necessary precautions and procedures in the use of equipment to prevent the delay of the healing process or to avoid injuring patients. 

• Provide appropriate documentation of each patient visit in accordance with departmental policy and procedures. 

• Maintain and care for all equipment and apparatus. 

• Maintain order and cleanliness of the department and ensure economical use of supplies, linens and utilities. 

• Provide appropriate billing for each patient visit in accordance with departmental policy and procedures. 

• Assist in training ancillary personnel. 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

• Associate’s Degree from an accredited school of Physical Therapy Assisting 

• Licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in the state of Florida 

• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through American Heart Association (AHA) 

• Internship experience 

• Strong understanding of various rehabilitation techniques and exercises 

• Proficiency in patient care
