Senior Director Hospital Operations

Cleveland Clinic is seeking a strategic, dedicated and experienced leader to serve as Senior Director Hospital Operations for Euclid Hospital. This community-based hospital provides top-quality patient care to the communities in and around Cuyahoga County on the beautiful coast of Lake Erie. 

 

The Senior Director Hospital Operations manages daily facility operations and ancillary services in partnership with organizational leadership at Euclid Hospital. This leader monitors financial and operational performance in partnership with key stakeholders and leads teams to execute local strategy and hospital-based objectives for the delivery of efficient and quality healthcare services. Additionally, this leader serves in a matrixed environment, overseeing the workforce and ensuring services are designed and provided that meet the needs of patients, physicians and staff. 

 

This leader will enjoy autonomy and the ability to serve at a senior level as part of the executive team, in charge of hospital operations for one of Cleveland Clinic’s community hospitals. 

 

A caregiver in this role works Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. — 5 p.m. on-site at Euclid Hospital. 

 

A caregiver who excels in this role will: 

  • Coordinate and direct the hospital allied health and operational leads to ensure operational efficiencies and patient-focused care. 

  • Manage daily ancillary services in partnership with Institute leadership. 

  • Manage daily facility operations in partnership with Shared Services. Manage daily ambulatory operations and hospital facilities for associated Provider-Based Billing locations. 

  • Demonstrate visibility and accessibility to staff by making rounds, conducting staff meetings, and focusing on caregiver engagement strategies. Support caregiver engagement initiatives by driving response rates and any required improvements for caregiver engagement and culture of safety surveys. 

  • Oversee execution of capital projects, expansion projects, and operating initiatives. 

  • Provide input to design facility master plan and specific physical facilities. Execute planning activities. 

  • Monitor financial and operational performance in partnership with Finance (e.g., budgeted volumes, revenues, expenses). 

  • Develop annual operating budget for the areas assigned in partnership with shared services, where appropriate. 

  • Monitor workforce productivity of shared services and allied health, maximizing productivity with appropriate authority delegation to achieve goals in partnership with shared services and ancillary leaders. 

  • Support hospital throughput in collaboration with physician and nursing leadership. Promote environment of collaboration with medical staff and hospital clinical departments to provide for the needs of patients. Serve as a liaison between the medical staff and clinical departments. 

  • Assure regulatory requirements (TJC, AHCA, CMS, NFPA, OSHA, etc.) are met. Collaborate with the governing body, management, medical staff and clinical staff in planning, promoting and conducting hospital-wide performance assessment and improvement. Report findings to appropriate hospital, medical and governing board committees. 

  • Participate with members of hospital governing board, medical staff, administrative team, and hospital management in the design and execution of strategic plan. 

 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Healthcare Administration or related field 

  • Minimum of eight years of progressively responsible experience in a healthcare environment, hospital or health system, including five years of demonstrated management 

  • Oral and written communication in English 

  • Strong hospital management experience 

  • Demonstrated experience and responsibility for recruitment, budgeting and strategic development with a strong track record of success 

  • Experience in managing clinical services and support services in competitive markets, including productivity enhancement, cost reduction, new program development, quality improvement and lean and process improvement strategies 

 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

  • Master’s degree 

  • Cleveland Clinic experience

  • Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods.

  • Ability to travel throughout the health system.

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.

    Pay Range

    Minimum hourly: $69.21

    Maximum hourly: $110.73
