The adult PACU cares for a broad range of post-operative patients recovering from surgery or procedures who do not require immediate transfer to an ICU. Patient acuity varies, from ambulatory individuals recovering from same-day procedures to those requiring extended monitoring prior to inpatient admission.
This diverse population requires vigilant assessment, strong clinical judgment, and the ability to respond quickly to changing patient needs.
While some higher-acuity patients may transition directly to the ICU, PACU nurses are specially trained to manage critical situations and stabilize patients when needed. This advanced skill set ensures seamless, high-quality care across varying levels of acuity, supporting safe recovery and appropriate progression to the next level of care.
We are looking for someone who demonstrates flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic clinical environment, with the ability to effectively support and promote change. This individual embraces new processes, responds positively to evolving patient and organizational needs, and actively contributes to continuous improvement initiatives.
A caregiver in this position works Mon-Fri| 7:00am – 4:00pm or 8:00am – 5:00pm.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Manage the operation and practice of professional nursing and delivery of nursing care on an assigned unit.

Establish clinical direction of nursing care, provide clinical supervision and maintain quality outcomes and patient care standards.

Identify and resolve issues affecting the delivery of patient care.

Supervise caregivers and promote development.
-
Maintain adherence to JCAHO and other regulatory standards.

Coordinate unit operations with other units/departments.
-
Develop and monitor budgets, approve purchases and establish/revise inventory quotes.

Analyze personnel structure and determine staffing needs.
-
Evaluate performance, conduct selection and termination processes and develop strategic plans.

Participate in clinical nursing research and support foundation research activities.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
-
Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)
-
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
-
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross
-
If in a Critical Care area an Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Certification (must be presented upon hire or within first year of employment)

3 years of recent clinical nursing experience, including at least one year of healthcare management experience

High degree of clinical expertise in the specialty area

Demonstrated leadership, management, communication, counseling, problem solving, decision making, conflict resolution and group process skills
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Master’s of Science in Nursing (MSN)

Prior PACU/Critical Care Experience
-
Knowledge with Surgery
-
Critical care and/or emergency room experience

Supervisory experience
Physical Requirements:

Requires full range of motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye and hand coordination.

Requires frequent data entry, sitting, standing and walking.

Requires corrective vision and hearing to normal range.

Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.

Medium Work – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Pay Range
Minimum Annual Salary: $101,900.00
Maximum Annual Salary: $155,390.00
