CS Lead Respiratory Care – Pulmonology

As CS Lead Respiratory Care, you will provide managerial and clinical leadership of your assigned team at Tradition Hospital and Martin Health, as needed. You will also serve as a Registered Respiratory Therapist to support a diverse population, with many patients managing various chronic respiratory disorders, critical illnesses and related symptoms. In this role, combining your skills with a compassionate attitude and outlook can make a difference in their lives and help promote a journey toward recovery or stability.  

A caregiver in this position works nights from 6:15PM – 7:00AM.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Provide clinical and managerial leadership to the Respiratory staff as designated by departmental management. 

  • Monitor daily operations of assigned areas and act as a resource person for staff. 

  • Assign therapist workload and adjust staffing based on patient volume. 

  • Participate in continuous quality improvement. 

  • Provide feedback on staff performance. 

  • Assist with development and implementation of Respiratory Therapy Policy/Procedures/Protocols. 

  • Act as a Respiratory Care liaison by developing/maintaining communication with the multidisciplinary care team. 

  • Assist with developing and providing ongoing orientation/training for newly hired therapists, existing staff, nursing and LIPs. 

  • Perform blood gas puncture and analysis (where applicable). 

  • Perform patient education regarding treatment and care of respiratory illness/disease to patient and family (where applicable). 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Associate’s Degree from an accredited program in Respiratory Therapy and three years of experience in Respiratory Therapy, including critical care or a specialty environment OR Bachelor's Degree and two years of experience  

  • Current Florida Department of Health Licensure as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

  • Current registration as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the The National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Bachelor’s Degree

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

  • Requires normal hearing and vision or corrected to normal range.

  • May require sitting, standing and walking for extensive periods of time.

  • Medium Work – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
